note = "Funding Information: The twenty-third annual meeting of the Neurobehavioral Teratology Society was held at Keystone Resort in Keystone, Colorado, from June 30–July 3, 1999. As in past years, the meeting was held jointly with the Teratology Society. The meeting opened with the March of Dimes Symposium, which was jointly sponsored by the Teratology Society and the Neurobehavioral Teratology Society. The symposium was co-chaired by Richard K. Miller from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, and William Slikker, Jr., from the National Center for Toxicological Research, Jefferson, AR, and was entitled “HIV Infection during Pregnancy: Biology, Developmental Effects, and Therapeutic Interventions.” The NBTS program also featured three other symposia: “Receptor Systems for Drugs of Abuse” chaired by Jerry Meyer of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA; “The Endocrine System: Developmental Neurotoxicity” chaired by Judy Henck of Park Davis Pharmaceutical, Ann Arbor, MI; and “ADHD: Characteristics, Interventions, and Models” chaired by Merle Paule of the National Center for Toxicological Research, Jefferson, AR. The symposium on Receptors for Drugs of Abuse was funded by a generous grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The Joseph Warkany Lecture was presented by Carole Kimmel of the USEPA and was entitled “Improving the Science for Predicting the Risks to Children's Health.” There were also 14 platform presentations and 18 poster presentations bringing the total number of abstracts to 52.
