Abstract
Lo Presti and O'Brien described the use and limitations of the EPA's toxic release inventory data in monitoring the US Mexican border area. Efforts like theirs are critical in assessing the environmental impact of industrialization along the border. Their report serves as a model for archive-based environmental studies of other geographic regions.
