Abstract

The various aspects of reflective middleware are discussed. Middleware has become an important architectural component in modern distributed systems. Its role is to offer users a high level, platform independent programming model and to hide problems of distribution. Development works towards reflective middleware is gaining speed as the current middleware technologies can not support the diversity of application domains of the present world. The works aim at providing a principled way to achieve openness of the underlying middleware platform.
