Abstract

The objective of this research was to develop calibrations using Fourier-Transform Near-Infrared Reflectance (FT-NIR) spectroscopy to measure palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids in soybeans. FT-NIR calibration models predicted the five fatty acids with correlation coefficients (r) ranging from 0.49 to 0.87, Root Mean Square Error of Prediction (RMSEP) values from 0.39 to 3.46% of total oil and (standard deviation of reference values divided by RMSEP (RPD) values from 1.0 to 1.9 for the five fatty acids.
