Abstract

Raman scattering studies of Bi1-xCax-MnO3 were carried out to explore the influence of charge and orbital ordering on the lattice, charge, and spin dynamics. The development of a fluctuational (quasielastic) response with the distinctive symmetry of the spin-chirality operator was revealed. Further, it was demonstrated that Raman scattering is uniquely suited for probing exotic chiral phases in other correlated systems.
