Abstract
A study was conducted to examine the formation and organization of nocturnal and early morning offshore Hawaiian rainbands, the flow patterns associated with these rainbands, and their relationship to the flow separation line. A hypothesis was established that explains the mechanisms leading to the formation and organization of Hawaiian trade wind rainbands in all trade wind regimes observed during the Hawaiian Rainband Project (HaRP).
