Push-pull modulation of coupled-cavity VCSELs

Abstract

Coupled-cavity VCSELs have the ability to modulate the longitudinal optical mode distribution. This longitudinal mode modulation can produce light output modulation without changing the total carrier and photon densities in the laser.
