Abstract
This chapter examines youth programs as settings that foster youth development, voice, and both individual and community empowerment. It highlights setting processes through which youth develop strategic thinking for understanding and impacting on the community, experience enhanced motivation, transcend an egocentric perspective, and develop abilities to work collaboratively and bridge the divide between youth and adult worlds.
