Abstract
The improvement in the sensitivity of photoelectromotive force (photo-EMF) laser vibrometer was demonstrated using pulsed light sources. It was shown that with a sufficiently high sampling rate, reconstruction of the vibration wave form can be achieved by conducting envelop detection of the resultant series of photocurrent pulses. It was found that the photo-EMF pulsed laser vibrometer consistently outperforms continuous wave photo-EMF laser vibrometers by several order of magnitude.
