Abstract

Strict application of the Code provisions for later homonyms and priority would mandate the use of Acalypha capitata. However, conservation of A. alnifolia J.G. Klein ex Willd. over A. capitata and A. alnifolia Poir. would retain usage that has been in place for about 200 years, thereby preserving nomenclatural stability and preventing an undesirable change affecting floristic, morphological, and ethnobotanical studies.
