Abstract

Adaptive blind equalization for OFDM can be difficult due to its nearly Gaussian marginal density. OFDM has unique properties, however, including constant mean block energy and zero-padded or circular-prefix guard bands, that allow blind equalization. The hybrid LMS/VCMA algorithms introduced here blindly restore the guard-band properties while maintaining a constant mean block energy. These simple, low-complexity adaptive algorithms demonstrate rapid convergence in simulations.
