Abstract

This chapter summarizes indications, equipment, procedure and complications for abdominocentesis, blood crossmatching, central venous catheter placement, cerebrospinal fluid collection, cytology, diagnostic peritoneal lavage (DPL), epidural anesthesia, intraosseous catheter placement, pericardiocentesis, thoracocentesis, thoracostomy tube placement, tracheostomy tube placement, venous cut down procedures, venous cut down procedures and negative-contrast colonogram. It explains protocols for acid-base disorders, alkalosis, alkalosis and acidosis occurred in canine and feline. The chapter discusses the fluid therapy, insulin replacement chart, lipid infusion protocol and potassium replacement chart.
