Preface to viewpoint set on: Materials under driving forces

Research output: Contribution to journalEditorialpeer-review

Abstract

A review on irradiation of a material with energetic particles which provided an illuminating example of a driven system was presented. As irradiation creates point defects, atomic diffusion was enhanced and the evolutions were accelerated. It was reported that in supersaturated Al-Zn-Mg alloys, precipitation takes place at a lower temperature when the material was deformed.
