Abstract
The Climate Registry currently has 39 states, along with seven Canadian provinces and two Mexican states as members, which developed a draft protocol for calculating the carbon footprint of businesses. The first approach most companies are taking to get a handle on their carbon footprint, which include the entire supply, from the manufacture of raw materials through users and final disposal of printed products is complex, difficult to find appropriate data, and beyond the control of the printer. Companies include carbon emissions from flying to business meetings but most do not have good records of air miles traveled and there is no agreement on how to make this calculation. The Greenhouse Gas Calculator indicates that the Waste Management Center's annual carbon emissions of 2,067 tons is equivalent to burning 4,361 barrels of oil. The company should use its carbon footprint as a guide to reduce emissions, costs or achieve another organization goal.
