Policing

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Although policing has great implications for the production of territories and social space, geographic studies of policing remain relatively isolated and scattered. But policing is an intrinsically geographic practice. This chapter explores how geographic insights can expand understandings of police. In specific it examines how urban and political geography help expand knowledge about the police function. It then sketches an outline for future research at the intersection of policing and geography.
