Abstract
We construct, using methods of symplectic geometry, Poisson brackets for a class of singular Lagrangians, introduced by Macfarlane. Examples of this construction are the Gardner Poisson bracket for the Korteweg-de Vries equation and the Poisson bracket for the Schrödinger equation.
