Photonic crystal laser cavities optimized by the geometric projection method

Abstract

We report the quality factor and spectral characteristics of a photonic crystal cavity laser optimized by the geometry projection method. Fabricated devices show 30% improvement in quality factor, consistent with a predicted two-fold increase.
