Abstract
Photolysis of carbene complexes Fe(TPP)L (L = CCl2, CBr2, CClF, CClCN) liberates free carbenes L that react with alkenes producing corresponding cycloalkanes in high yields. The vinylidene complexes FE(TPP()(-C - C(p- C6C4Cl)2 undergoes analogous photochemical dissociation of the vinylidene ligand.
