Abstract

Tubular scaffolds with radially aligned microporosity were synthesized for peripheral nerve regeneration studies, and a mathematical model able to predict scaffold geometry was developed. Histopathology results from rats treated with the scaffold shows a axon regeneration-elongation, revascularization and formation of tight junctions 40 days after implantation. Electrophysiology test show signal transmission after regeneration.
