Palladium-coated photonic crystal vertical cavity lasers for hydrogen sensing applications

Abstract

We report the integration of palladium on the surface of a photonic crystal VCSEL for use as a hydrogen sensor. We demonstrate a shift in output power and peak wavelength in response to hydrogen concentration.
