Abstract

Russel Ohl, the inventor of the pn junction in semiconductors, is featured. Two decisive events in semiconductor technology are chronicled, first is Russel Ohl's discovery of pn junction in the 1940s, and Gordon Moore's prophecy in 1965, of exponential growth in IC complexity.
