Optimum visualization of vector fields and multi-sensor fusion

Abstract

This paper addresses the effective display of noisy vectorvalued image data. A new game-theoretic model of a human observer in a visualization task is developed, and used to derive optimal algorithms for the display of a maximally informative fused monochrome image. Alternative, heuristic nonparametric spatial feature extraction criteria are proposed and compared to the optimal ones.
