Abstract
An important goal of engineering practice is to predict the optimal configuration of a system on the basis of both economics and fundamentally sound scientific principles. In the present work, a general methodology was developed that incorporates state-of-the-art optimization techniques with a model of the current and potential distribution within an electrolytic cell in order to predict the optimal arrangement of the system.
