Optimal design of polymer sheeting dies

Abstract

A sheeting die design method is developed using numerical modeling, sensitivity analysis, and optimization. Sheet extrusion dies are designed for reduced exit velocity variation and minimal pressure drop. Examples of coat-hanger die designs and designs with a several manifold height distribution are given.
