Abstract

InteractionsbetweenahypersonicflowatM=6overaconeandpulsedsidejetsareinvestigated using the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) and the results were compared with the earlier simulations with a steady jet flow. It was shown that as the frequency of the pulse of the jet increased, the jet penetrated into the flow less which resulted in smaller upstream and downstream separation regions while the jets are their on-cycles. It was also observed that there is a low frequency unsteadiness due to the shock interactions in addition to the unsteadiness caused by the working cycle of jets.
