Abstract
Theoretical studies are presented on the structures and reactivity of chlorinated ethylcobalamins, potential intermediates in the vitamin B 12-catalyzed reductive dehalogenation of the environmental pollutants perchloroethylene and trichloroethylene; the results suggest an alternative mechanism of catalysis.
