On the ensemble variance of reverberation room transmission functions, the effect of spectral rigidity

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The modal statistics of the Gaussian orthogonal ensemble of large random symmetric matrices are applied to reverberation room acoustics. These statistics are found to predict spectral fluctuations which are weaker than those predicted by the assumption of modal independence and are also in better agreement with observations.
