Abstract
Important elements of a greenhouse gas signal detection strategy are discussed and demonstrated with both model and observed data. The analysis also demonstrates the high level of unexplained interdecadal variability that occurs naturally in the climate system and how this "noise' will greatly complicate any detection strategy. -Authors
