Off-axis emission from native oxide confined VCSELs

We analyse the near and far field intensity distributions of large aperture native oxide confined AlGaAs/GaAs VCSELs. We demontrate single mode highly divergent emission when the cavity is red shifted with respect to the quantum well gain peak. As the gain peak is detuned red of the cavity, the VCSEL operates in multiple less divergent modes.
