Abstract
We report the observation of collision-induced narrowing in the two-photon 6S-12S transition in Cs perturbed by argon using resonance ionization spectroscopy. The narrowing occurs at 25-50-Torr Ar buffer gas pressure. It is explained via the competition between collision-induced single- and two-photon processes.
