Abstract
Several public water supplies in East-Central Illinois have nitrate levels that seasonally exceed the USEPA drinking water standard. This comparative study will examine the processes affecting nitrate loads in surface waters. Conclusions will aid in recommending management strategies for minimizing field losses of nitrate.
