New type of MMW integrated directional couplers

Abstract

A novel type of millimeter-wave integrated directional coupler with broad-wall substrate-insert slots is presented. An optimization method is given for the design of a 3-dB coupler at W-band. A modified transmission matrix representation that reduces CPU time and avoids the difficulties caused by divergence problems is introduced. The optimized design and measured performance results are presented.
