The author discusses the status of cryogenic research dealing with the three newly discovered phases of **3He. The review includes both experimental and mathematical physics with particular emphasis on the nuclear, magnetic, and electronic properties of He atoms. He concludes by suggesting uses for the three **3He phases within the context of modern physics research.
