Abstract

We have measured the CP violation parameter +- in a neutral kaon experiment, E773, at Fermilab. This parameter characterizes CP violation in the decay KL+-. Kaon decays into +- collected simultaneously were used for normalization. Our result is |+-|=[2.359 0.062(stat)0.040(syst)]×10-3 with a phase +-=[43.8 3.5(stat)1.9(syst)]°. The prediction that +- should be very close to +- is supported by our result.
