Abstract
This article addresses the memories of handball in school games from Maranhão (JEMs) (1970) in São Luís-Brazil. The focus of the study was the Ronald da Silva de Carvalho sports gym, from the Federal Technical School of Maranhão. Qualitative research was conducted, with theoretical-methodological support of Memory and Oral History, with interviews of black “places of memory” in the sports field, aimed to reconstructing the experiences of handball in the JEMs. The Brazilian School Games and the invasion of São Paulo in São Luis-Brazil, transformed the configurations in obtaining sports success in the Brazilian and international sports field.
