Abstract

Photonic crystals with line and point defects are desirable for application as photonic bandgap waveguides and optical cavities. In this study, such defects were introduced into photonic crystals using a laser scanning confocal microscope. High-resolution three-dimensional (3D) patterns were created inside the colloidal crystals via multi-photon polymerization.
