    Abstract

Moxidectin, a milbemycin derivative, is the newest anthelmintic available in the United States; it is sold both by veterinarians and over the counter. Thus some horse owners have administered the product without regarding label instructions, antiparasitic activity, and appropriate use in an equine anthelmintic program. In addition, advertisements, lay press, word of mouth, and the Internet have propagated misconceptions about moxidectin.
