MONTE CARLO POSITION-DEPENDENT ANGULAR SOURCE BIASING.

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

A Monte Carlo method for position-dependent angular source biasing is developed for the treatment of problems comprising an extended cylindrical radiation source, where the solution is sought in a finite volume along the source axis. Application to the estimation of the neutron fluxes in the shield and magnet components of the end plug of a contemplated Tandem Mirror Fusion Reactor is described. Through application of the suggested method, it is shown that estimates of the flux can be obtained using moderate numbers of histories at the finite detector volumes.
