Abstract

The model presented includes radiative transport, a two-phase energy equation, and heterogeneous carbon gasification of the coal particles. The differential approximation was used to represent the one-dimensional radiant energy transport. The equations were numerically integrated and predictions of flame structure and the adiabatic flame speed are presented. The predicted speed agrees well with experiments carried out in a burner with heated walls.
