Abstract

Simultaneous 10 kHz repetition-rate tomographic particle image velocimetry (TPIV), hydroxyl planar laser induced uorescence (OH PLIF), and formaldehyde (CH2O) PLIF were performed in a turbulent premixed ame in the thickened amelet regime in order to quantify the conditional local turbulent ame speed. The ame speed is computed based on the rate at which uid control masses pass through a 3D ame contour, determined from the TPIV Mie scattering. Calculated ame speeds are shown to exceed the laminar ame speed. Conditional statistics on ame speed and local, instantaneous turbulence are presented, showing no direct correlation.
