Low quantum defect fiber lasers via Yb-doped multicomponent fluorosilicate optical fiber

Abstract

A low quantum defect (QD < 1.5%) fiber laser based on an Yb-doped multicomponent fluorosilicate optical fiber is presented. Modeling results indicate that the fiber laser is scalable and that QD values below 1% are feasible.
