N2 - The article offers the author's views on some recent litigations in the U.S. concerning the environmental impact of agricultural biotechnology. The outcomes of pending litigation regarding the economic impacts of novel crop varieties could determine the environmental impact of biotechnology crops. Rice growers are pursuing litigation in federal district court in St. Louis, Missouri, alleging a right to recover damages for export-related economic impacts of a biotech rice genetic event.
