Abstract
The article presents information on LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), an active remote sensing technology. Topics discussed include an image of the elevations of the ground surface based upon aerial LiDAR data; digital elevation model or DEM, one of many of many types of products derived from LiDAR; and the use of LiDAR data to assist with locating and identifying prehistoric mounds and earthworks.
