Abstract

The role of portal services was described and the technologies involved in full-text linking was examined. A portal application was described that featured simultaneous search and dynamic linking capabilities over multiple information resources. The search service provided a model for synchronous searching of information resources and full-text linking capabilities. The Grainger service provided simultaneous searching of multiple periodical index databases, the online catalog, a Web search engine, several publisher full-text repositories, and local resources.
