Abstract
Euphoria reigned in the Pittsburgh Pirates locker room as its players celebrated capturing the 1971 World Series. Prior to being interviewed about the team’s triumph by NBC broadcaster Bob Prince, Pirates Roberto Clemente asked to address his family. Before the live international audience, Clemente spoke in Spanish: “On this the greatest day of my life, for my sons I send my blessing, and from my parents I ask for their blessing.”1.
