Large-Scale Scattering Analysis of Arbitrary Objects in a Stratified Medium

Abstract

An inhomogeneous absorbing boundary condition (IABC) is proposed to efficiently perform scattering analysis with the presence of a stratified medium using the finite element method. The analytical expressions for the incident fields in the right-hand side of the IABC are derived. The parallel dual-primal finite-element tearing and interconnecting (FETI-DP) algorithm is adopted to enable large-scale electromagnetic simulations. A multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA)-based far-field calculation is developed to reduce the computational complexity. Examples are presented to demonstrate the solution accuracy and large-scale modeling capability of the proposed method.
