Abstract

Archaeological investigations at the Lamb site (11SC24) resulted in the recovery of an Eveland phase faunal assemblage. A broad-based faunal exploitation strategy is indicated, with a focus on the procurement of white-tailed deer and fish. Early Mississippian subsistence information is scarce in the central Illinois River valley (CIRV), but the Lamb zooarchaeological data are consistent with patterns observed in other CIRV faunal assemblages.
