Abstract
The degree to which management practices such as irrigation scheduling and tillage affect the amount of pesticide lost to groundwater is not well understood. The rate and amount of atrazine movement through a sandy soil were measured at a site along the Lower Wisconsin River Valley in Iowa County, Wisconsin, during the 1991 and 1992 growing seasons. Three irrigation water management regimes were compared: no-irrigation, irrigation according to water balance, and surplus irrigation. Tillage by moldboard plowing and no-till were also compared.
