note = "Funding Information: The articles by Michael Wilson and Carol Hanis are examples of research partially funded by national agencies. Wilson{\textquoteright}s report to the Canadian Conference of the Arts is an analysis of provincial policies in arts education, and Harris{\textquoteright}s work, which examined the relationship between policy and practice in music education in three school districts, was funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Canadian Federation of University Women. Brian Robert{\textquoteright}s paper takes a sociological perspective on music education and advocates new guidelines for policy administrators based on his approach. In selecting the authors and topics for this issue, we chose authors who had been actively involved in studying and/or generating arts policy and were recommended by other Canadian arts educators for their contributions to the field. We hope that these articles provide a sample of the range and variety of arts education policy issues in the Canadian context.",
