From 2003 to 2007, he worked as the Postdoctoral Training with Department of Electrical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA. He became an Assistant Professor with the Fischell Department of Bioengineering, University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA, in 2007, and has been an Associate Professor since 2014. He has authored or coauthored one book, 16 book chapters, and 93 peer-reviewed journal publications. His research interests include biomedical optical imaging technologies (optical coherence tomography and fluorescence molecular imaging) and their applications in functional brain imaging, cancer detection, kidney transplantation, and tissue engineering. He has been an Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports, and is currently an Associate Editor for the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING and a Guest Editor of the IEEE JOURNAL OF SELECTED TOPICS IN QUANTUM ELECTRONICS. He has been a Fellow of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, and a Senior Member of the Optical Society of America. He has served as conference program Co-Chair and General Co-Chair for the OSA Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics: Applications and Technologies. He was the recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2012.",
